Glomerulonephritis Treatment
Western Approach
Western Medicine sees kidney diseases as a series of uncurable ailments. The recommended treatment regiments focus on slowing down the damage caused by glomerulonephritis and preventing complications. Angiotensin Converting Enzymes (ACE inhibitors) are usually prescribed to help lower high blood pressure which can cause additional kidney damage. A diet of reduced protein, lower amounts of sodium and potassium are typically also recommended to reduce the amount of wastes to be removed from the blood.
Unfortunately the Western Approach leads to dialysis or kidney transplant. Most people with glomerulonephritis will end up needing these after about 10 years or less.
Meany people who suffer from chronic glomerulonephritis have no prior history of kidney disease. Often they will not show any of the common symptoms of kidney damage until it has developed to chronic renal failure.
